My grandson is almost 8. He is addicted to Minecraft. Although he is an excellent reader, above second grade reading level, he is not fond of reading because he does not find the books interesting. Well I ordered him the entire set of this series. Probably a dumb idea because had he not liked them I would have been stuck with 9 books. Luckily, I judged correctly. For the first time since he had discovered Minecraft, the video game, he was reading rather than playing. It confirmed Grandma's theory that it was not the reading he did not like, it was the subject matter! Yeah Grandma. So the books get 5 starts from both of us.

I have bought several of these books for my 10 year old grandson who is being home schooled. He did not like to read but has really come to enjoy these. They are written in a fun diary form. The writing is larger print (yet not childish) and written in short chapters. I initially wanted him to read more "substantial" books but then I realized more than that I want him to learn to love reading. Better books can come later once he has established that. I will continue to buy these for him till the series is complete.

I bought the first three books of this series just to see if my little Minecraft fan would be interested in them at all. Let's put it this way, that was in December of 2015, it is now the middle of February 2016 and I just pre-ordered book 10, and my son is praying that they keep writing for this series!

My 8 yo son is not much of a reader but loves Minecraft. I was hoping that buying these books would get him more interested in reading and not so much of a fight when it comes to his 10 min reading that he has to do nightly for school. And this book has done the trick. My son will even ask to read a little longer sometimes because he is "at a good part." lol Would highly recommend for any young reader that likes Minecraft.

My son likens reading to corporal punishment, so I am always on the lookout for fun books that pique his interest in reading. As a Minecraft "zombie" himself, I just knew my sweet baby boy would relate to the trials and tribulations of the titular Zombie in this series. My adorable and brilliant cuddlebug devoured all of the presently-available installments and we are both now anxiously awaiting the next. (Seriously. Can't you just churn these out in groups of four or something, Mr. Zack Zombie?)

My 7 year old son got the first book of the series for Christmas. He sat down and read it that day. He has since read, and asked for, each of the books. He can be a reluctant reader so this series is perfect to get him to read on his own, willingly. Some people have complained about the writing style and level. Obviously these are not meant to be great literature; however, they have interesting stories and for kids my son's age they are great.

My son LOVES this series!!! He seriously read this book in under a week!!! He stays up late reading now which is pretty incredible for us to see that!! He has always struggled with reading, and getting him to read was always a battle... until I found this series!!! PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!!! :)

My son loves these books. They're a bit slim for the price but he loves them and talks about Minecraft and the books quite a bit.

This book has several different weight training exercises listed, including some with body weight, some with free weights, and some with medicine balls. Each takes up about a page, with some black and white photos. In the back, there are some sport specific workout plans. There are also some tables showing suggestions as well as some recommended blank tables on how to track your workout progressI believe the authors really know their stuff... It's good information, but I would like to have seen it condensed into some workout plans that a kid could just pickup and start doing. Maybe even some foldout pages that could be torn out and hung on the wall of their room as motivation.

I expected something different. But the book made good sense. It was well worth the read. But I still want to get a book on starting a teenager using some of the weight machines we have acquired.

Pretty basic and light on content.

Dr. Faigenbaum & Dr. Wescott have once again provided exercise professionals with a scientifically and evidenced based resource manual for the strength training of youth and adolescents. This book offers easy to follow guidleines and recommendations for the design and implementation of strength training and fitness workouts for youth and adolescents 7 to 18 years of age. The book also provides 100 illustrated exercises with technique descriptions using various types of training equipment. It is a must read and resource manual and belongs on everyone's book shelf who work with youth and adolescents in strength training and fitness programs.

I teach physical education to elementary students, but just acquired an 8th grade girls class. I had not taught strength training in more than 10 years. Our school does not have a lot of equipment for girls so I ordered this book. The girls have enjoyed incorporating the medicine balls and elastic bands into their work out. I did not own a strenght training book per se, so I bought this one. It was very helpful to me in that it is more than appropriate for young students and schools who do not have a weight room set up for girls (usually football players only).

We've been looking for a book to help train our 11 year old, who plays two sports competitively; football and baseball. He was interested in adding weight/resistance workouts to his training regimen. This book provided the advice we needed to start him off on correctly. As a bonus, practical advice on equipment... even instructions to make your own 'medicine ball'. I would definitely recommend this book for young athletes. The advice is sound and the author is reputable. It was definitely worth ordering.

This book is great and I love to give to some of the other personal trainer, I work with at the gym.

This book is relatively complete, but is oriented toward teachers, rather than students, so teens will find it fairly dry.

Although the title suggests a book on Fiesta, this portion is limited.If your looking for price comparisons or rule of thumb the book is weak in this department, it does not effectively handle all colors preferring to provide information strictly on the "hot" collector pieces such as 'medium green.' Of course, prices quoted in books are strictly "guides" as the internet, antique malls and live auctions mix up values on a weekly basis. Current research and personal perspective will be the true guides for market value at any given time.Fiesta is covered in the first 73 pages of this book (pre/post 1986) and then moves on other topics or products produced. This book would be a fine starter for the novice but additional resources will need to be added for a complete library on Fiesta and Fiestaware.

I must agree with several of the reviewers below. This is the book you hate to love. On the one hand, it has an exhaustive amount of information on the various Fiesta pieces available. On the other hand, the whole mixup with regards to the medium green color is a real problem (plate #52 on page 43 was incorrectly captioned.) However the information provided makes up for this problem, no question.The book covers a history of the pottery, including the famous "radioactive red", it shows the four most common backstamps, it describes ways to definitively identify Fiesta (as opposed to some look-alikes), and gives explanations of the dating codes and the various measurements.As well, the book is chock-full of good photos the various pieces in all their colorful glory. I especially like the section on the Harlequin line, as it seems to be rising in collectibility. The only other quibble I have is with the prices shown, but that's a problem with every reference book out there these days, as the online auctions have thrown everything for a loop. So if you're looking for a good, general reference on Fiesta, this is the one to get.

This book is very helpful when trying to decide how much an item is worth. We collect for ourselves and don't purchase for resale so it is nice to see how much someone who has been in the business for awhile feels the dishes are worth. The pictures are beautiful and let you see an example of the item of which they are speaking.

We were very pleased with the book and it's contents, we have owned the 1976 CEF for many years and this so far is a very good update, We will no doubt be adding HALL to our collection among others, we want to learn as much as possible to broaden our collection as started some 40 years ago. There's so much to like in this collection. It was funny in ways I didn't know poetry was allowed to be. And tender too. Feels like a coming of age tale, but in verse.
