The characters are realistic and the situations they get into are definitely realistic.Ashley and Colton Drake have broken their business relationship and are now just dating. Colton couldn’t keep his mind on his business with Ashley as his assistant. She was just as glad not to be his assistant and got another job, this time in her marketing field. The first day on the new job, she met Ethan with whom she would be working. He immediately began flirting with her. She just took it in stride and went on with her work. On the second day of her job, Colton came to take her to lunch and saw Ethan’s face and knew he wanted to be more than a co-worker with Ashley. He already had to contend with her possibly liking Jonathan and now Ethan! As Colton begins to feel the barbs of jealousy, Ashley is getting ready to finally meet Colton’s new assistant, Jasmine. She is gorgeous and reminds Ashley of Colton’s ex Rachel. Jealousy hits in moments. The fact that Colton didn’t mention that Jasmine went along on his latest trip to Chicago doesn’t help. How?The book is a great pick-me-up when things get stressful.

I have loved all 3 books of this 4 book series. The characters become so real to you when you read this author’s, (Christine Kersey) books. It’s hard to put her books down because you get so wrapped up in them in what is going and going to happen next that you can’t put them down.This book is the continuance of Drake and Ashley’s relationship and their growing love for one another. It takes awhile for them to get there, to admit to one other their true feelings,, but they do eventually get to that point. Now that they have come to the point of expressing their true love to one another, I can’t wait to read about their next stage of life with one another. You really do need to start with book 1. There are just 4 books. You get so involved in your reading that you can get through them rather quickly. Just be prepared to have nothing else to do because you will not want to stop reading.

Few of us are so comfortable in our own skin, that we don’t consider the effect our words have on or relationship or what is going through the other person’s mind. Think of all the misunderstanding and out right lies and deceptions that could be avoided if we were mind readers…But it wouldn’t make for as entertaining a story either. Another fun read. This is my honest, voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

Ashley and Drake go through some rough times because of their jealousy. They love each other, but Ashley doesn’t trust Drake (a Billionaire), whose used to dating lots of women. Drake doesn’t trust Ashley with Jonathan or a co-worker. They finally talk and let each other know their true feelings.

This was fun to read kept my attention wanting to see how Drake and Ashley were going to get through all the problems. I don't want to give away the ending but was very happy they finally seem to be on the same page and were talking. Can't wait to read the final book in this series

I am so glad I have been able to go through Ashley’s story as she deals with her love for Drake and her insecurities due to jealousy. This is written in such a way that you feel like you’re living it with them. We all deal with our own insecurities and Christine has done a great job bringing real life to this story. This is my honest opinion after receiving an ARC.

Loved this book. Ashley and Drake have their share of bumps in their relationship. Fun to see how they work through them. Really enjoyed the banter between them in this book. And the Truth or Dare game. Easy. Quick read. Canxt wait until Book 4

This book showed how men and women think. There are some vital lessons taught through the story that showed honest emotions and how to deal with them. I was impressed by how authentic the author was. FANTASTIC read!!

This poem came to mind almost immediately when I started writing the book. It’s probably the most universal poem I’ve ever encountered. The first line alone resonates immediately with almost everyone. Q: What do you like about writing for teenagers? A: Everything. I like talking with teenagers themselves about books. I like trying to capture the teenage voice. And I like writing about teenagers because they have SO MUCH happening in their lives, and they are passionate about those things. Q: What were some of the books you loved as a teen? Did any of these books influence Matched at all? A: I loved (and still do) Anne Tyler and Wallace Stegner. I remember being introduced to those authors in ninth grade and being floored by the beauty of their writing. I also loved anything by Agatha Christie. I think these books did influence me—not in any concrete, specific way, but in that I wanted to write a story about a character worth caring about even though/because of the fact that she is flawed and human. Gr 7 Up–In a story that is at once evocative of Lois Lowry's The Giver (Houghton, 1993), George Orwell's 1984, and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, Condie introduces readers to the “perfect” Society. Cassia Reyes is a model student, daughter, and citizen. How could she not be when the Society has everything planned and functioning perfectly? All of her needs are met: food, shelter, education, career training, and even her future husband are selected by officials who know what is best for each individual by studying statistical data and probable odds. She even knows when she will die, on her 80th birthday, just as the Society dictates. At her Match Banquet she is paired with Xander, her best friend and certainly her soul mate. But when a computer error shows her the face of Ky, an Aberration, instead of Xander, cracks begin to appear in the Society's facade of perfection. A series of events also shakes her dedication to Xander and puts her future in jeopardy. Cassia exhibits some characteristics of Winston Smith and Lenina Crowne in her silent rebellion against societal control and in her illicit friendship with Ky but ultimately, and more satisfyingly, she is more like Lowry's Jonas. Her awakening and development are realistically portrayed, and supporting characters like Cassia's parents and her grandfather add depth to the story. The biggest flaw is that the story is not finished. Fans of the Giver will devour this book and impatiently demand the next installment.–Anthony C. Doyle, Livingston High School, CA. Unfortunately, this title didn't work well for me. The heroine of the story spent far too much time wondering which boy was the right one for her. It was a little low on substance for me. In other YA dystopian novels, there is a conflict to be solved and there may be a light romance in the background of the story. This story is heavy on the romance and light on the conflict. Additionally, all three characters involved in the romantic triangle seem rather bland and none of them seem to have much of a connection with each other. The heroine of the story does not come across as particularly bright, and it's difficult to see why either male character would be drawn to her. I'm afraid that halfway through the book, I was still waiting for something of consequence to happen. The situations that seemed like they could have led to something don't get much of an explanation, and by the time they are explained, you really don't care anymore.

The world was developed nicely however led you to no emotional tie. I guess this was intended since the society is so cold and calculating. I get it had to be created this way but still... it seemed so flat. The pacing was slow. I didn't find myself really intrigued or connected until I was about 70% of the way through.The character development could have used a lot of work. Cassia seemed very flat and I didn't feel any sort of connection to her at all until almost the end of the story. Again, this may have been intentional because she was so molded and brainwashed by her society, however I would have liked to see more action, more outward fight as opposed to all internal fight or at the least, way more curiosity.Xander was a solid character and a bit interesting but that's as far as my feelings go on that one. Em is utterly forgettable. There wasn't really a love triangle... it was always just ky.Ky was really the most interesting character although I didn't think so until the very end which means pacing was too slow. I think 50% through the book cassia and ky had only spoken a handful of words to each other. When she first told him she loved him, my response was why? She barely knows him. I Wonder if she only fell for the idea of rebellion that he encompassed because she was too weak and molded to feel true rebellion in her own gut. Again, too much internal going on.Nutshell: pacing was too slow for my taste. Characters were very flat. The concept was interesting but the world was flat. I get what the author tried to do. Internal story, internal struggle. It just all fell flat for me.I give it three stars because ally condie did have a poetic turn to her writing though at times it was overdone. It was written nicely. There were a few memorable quotes. I will actually read book 2 because now that the story has moved out of cassias province, maybe the pace will quicken and there will be more external struggle and action. And finally the girl is beginning to THINK of developing a backbone. Just wish it hadn't taken a whole book to get to that point.

Too much of the book is spent on intro. Nothing interesting happens until the end. Not like Hunger Games in any way. One difficulty in the book is an overemphasis describing the bland nature of the controlling government. I was 90% into the book before something interesting happened, and even then it was sedate. Even the details that are supposed to be shocking, are just plain not interesting.Contrast that with 1984, where Winston is in constant misery, being watched everywhere, and having a telescreen that is a controlling. The whole mood is so much better described in the book 1984. Also, there is no real hook to make me interested in the next book. It seems like a book purposely written to be part of a series.

I picked this up from my library because it looked interesting.It starts a bit slow, but it gradually picks up and started to hold my interest. Although there are still random parts that are duller than others, I got through them quickly enough.Out of all of the characters, I felt the most connection with Ky. I really wish there was more on his background. He seemed to be the most... human. Likely because he was raised outside of the system.For a lot of the book, I found myself frustrated over the system. It connects you to your match based on what is most beneficial to the community, kills old people after a certain age, and the list goes on. Typical things you'll find in a Dystopian. I was most curious to see what was going to happen with the situation between Ky and Xander.Cassia, the main character, was the storyteller for this book, and I felt she was reacting to things in a way that made sense with the world she has grown up in.Fans of YA Dystopian would likely enjoy this. I am interested in continuing the series, although I have heard the following books aren't as good.

This YA Dystopian romance was super good. I read it in 2 days, and when I had to put it down to get things done, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Cassia, Xander, and Ky are the main characters in this one. Cassia goes to her Matching Banquet where she will find out who the Society has chosen for her future mate. Xander, her best friend, shows up on her screen. But so does Ky, an Aberration who blends in and is quiet. The book takes her on a quest to determine whether she will allow the Society to make all her choices for her, or if she will choose for herself. The theme is great—Would you accept loss of agency in favor of the government making sure your life is peaceful and nothing bad happens? But you never get to make your own choices, or question the government’s choices. It’s crazy with lots of danger, intrigue, horrible secrets, and love. Super good book. I’m looking forward to reading the next one in this series.

The book is fine. It does say Portuguese. I don't know why I thought it would be Brazilian Portuguese. Cute book but hopefully anyone that buys this will have better reading comprehension than I apparently do. :-)

Great book for my son in 2nd grade. He's in a dual immersion pourtuge class so this book is very helpful because it has both English and Portuguese.

My only comment is that the people in it all have blond hair and many of the activities are foreign to kids who live in Brazil.

Cute book for my Brazilian babysitter to read to my baby.

This is such an EXCELLENT copy and has pictures and explanations - for the conneissuer of Les Miserables....tells the story of the musicals beginnings and how popular it became - much more than just a piano part! Collectors Item.I ordered TWO of these. One for me and one for my Friend, my former accompanist who loves the musical.

Th music is a little bit harder but they are done well. Some songs aren’t included that would have been nice but I got this book for the songs that were included. It is put together well and I am enjoying playing them

This is definitely beyond the beginner-intermediate player, but as a late intermediate player I can say that if you really want to struggle through this and learn it, it's doable, especially if you leave out the melody line and sing it/have someone else sing it instead.

Item was bought used and was in great condition. It arrived quickly and was as it was described. Book has 16 songs with lyrics and guitar chords as well. This is for intermediate/advanced piano skill level. I purchased this for my 14 yr. old daughter (has been playing since she was six). This will be challenging for her to learn.

I love Les Miserables, and I love singing. Anyways this songbook is great for any Les Miz fan. I loved that this book had never-before published songs in it. I love "Come To Me", and I'm glad this music book had it. I think it's a great buy for any broadway goer/ singer/ piano player. I am very happy with this purchase!

Like having additional pieces to play .... the others are the same arrangements I have in my older book of "Les Miz",which is disappointing. I was looking for Piano Solo music, and this really isn't it.

If you are looking for a version of a specific song from Les Miz, this would be a good resource. Unfortunately, the selection of songs included is rather limited. Songs include What Have I Done, Lovely Ladies, Come To Me, Thenardier Waltz, One Day More, Red and Black, and Look Down. Note that you don't get I Dreamed a Dream, Do You Hear the People Sing, Bring Him Home, or On My Own.
