This richly evocative story tells of a young man, suffering in the wake of the death of his girlfriend, who goes to Indonesia to remake himself. The girlfriend angle is touching but what really sizzles here is Stoner's depiction of Indonesia. Makes one feel like you are right there in the exotic thick of it.
Having read Jalan Jalan on my e-reader, I am now waiting for my hard copy to arrive here in NZ. I really enjoyed the story, finding it a 'real' read. It is totally believable, and I enjoyed the writers ability to let me experience the Indonesian atmosphere. The characters are real, and the storyline a bit different. I cant' wait for my hard copy to get here. Looking forward to another book from Mr. Stoner.

A great read. A sad, funny and moving novel about discovering yourself in a foreign, confusing and beautiful place. Reminded me a little of The Beach, but also very different.
