I bought this book and started reading it before giving it to my daughter to read. I can't get through it because this author spends WAY too much time talking about abortions. This is not the focus I was hoping for.

Jennifer shares from her heart and experience, what the wonder of the sexual relation can be when we regard it from a sacred perspective. Relationships of unity and oneness, meaningful intimacy such as we were designed to enjoy, is being lost in the typical sexual experiences. Jennifer encourages, challenges and blesses her readers by her insight and loving candor.

This book truely addressed some of concerns about sex and the future. It helped me to gain the right frame of mind about my singleness. Definitely, a must read!

Good information

I received this book for free for the purpose of this honest review. In 21 Myths, Jennifer Strickland discusses the myths and then shares the truth from God's Word in a loving and accepting way. We ALL sin and fall short of the Glory of God and it is from this perspective of grace that Strickland shares His love for us.While reading Myths 1-13 I really felt that this book needs to be required reading for all females. Then when I read Myth 14, I disagreed with the way the myth is stated, because she doesn't call sin a sin. If God calls something a sin and abhorrent to Him, we cannot say that people who engage in that sin are not sinful, just as I am sinful when I sin. I do mostly agree with her truth on this myth but I feel she is too politically correct and not so biblically correct on the topic of homosexuality. Thankfully things were back on track for Myths 15-21 so I don't recommend skipping the book because of 1 somewhat misguided chapter.My only other criticism of the book is the hard-to-read funky font that is used for the Scripture verse that accompanies each truth. I love a fun font but when it detracts from reading important information it isn't good. Hopefully many women who don't know or understand God's love for them will read this book. I would hate for a funky font that makes it very difficult to read God's Word to be a stumbling block for them.

In the latest book by former model and author Jennifer Strickland, she identifies 21 myths about sex and female sexuality, just as the title would imply. But she doesn’t just break down and debunk these dangerous deceptions, but she also presents the biblical truth to counteract them. Although they have been many book written about this topic from a Christian perspective, this one stand out from the rest. She explains that her premise is to enter these discussions as if she and the reader were talking over coffee at Starbucks, having an honest heart-to-heart between girls. She doesn’t shy away from the difficult parts of sexuality and its consequences, but instead tells you the honest truth, and that’s something so many women, especially teen girls, need to hear. She covers a wide range of topics, such as dealing with guilt over one’s sexual past, abortion, adoption, the spiritual and emotional nature of sexuality, STDs, responding to the LGBT community, singleness, the false expectations of finding and marrying “Prince Charming,” and many more. Jennifer explains that this is the book she needed as teenager, and I believe that many other teen girls need this book as well, especially if they are trying to discern God’s truth over the lies that our culture continues to throw at them. I would recommend 21 Myths to young women about 15 and older, and also for women desiring to counsel teen girls through any of issues this book addresses. It can be for those that already have a sexual past, or those that don’t but are seeking wisdom on these topics. It can even benefit someone young in their marriage, if they are trying to sort out their understanding of these dangerous deceptions.

“Field Guide” is very appropriate. It is not the answer to all freelancing questions. Another reviewer put it should be called the Freelance Bible. Not quite. The book is geared towards guiding readers at certain points of their freelancing career. “I’m in this situation or point of my freelance career, let me check the field guide to see what to do.” Similar to a Boy/Girl Scout handbook—here are a bunch of knots to tie. They each have their definite purpose, but you can use different ones interchangeable based on your preference. Learn them all, but adapt as needed and to your preference.This isn’t going to teach you how to set up an LLC/S-Corp. The book doesn’t teach you how to write and read contracts. It gives you resources and teaches you how to approach those situations, but you’ll have to put in the extra time with those resources. They’re not going to magically appear from the book.I owe most of my freelance career to Joey. I use him as a resource all the time. I can say I am where I am at because of his lessons before buying this book. I am a bit biased in that sense. “So, then if you are so grateful to Joey, why just four stars?” Joey is always honest and straight with me and vice versa—This is a 4-Star book. It isn’t 100% perfect and doesn’t answer everything. I even found myself disagreeing with certain specifics, despite Joey being so influential on my career. That isn’t a bad thing. Everyone should have that reaction from any book of this caliber. All that said, this book is what every freelancer should use to start their careers. Not just motion designers. Any one.Don’t expect a Biblical experience, though. Expect to be amazed and swept away into wanting to freelance or be a better freelancer. Expect to need to put in the work to be successful at it, too.

I am not freelancing yet, but may soon :). This book does a great job of taking the fear out of the thought of freelancing AND shows one how to do it with a better chance of success. Joeys writing style is free-flowing and it feels like you are listening to a friend explain things to you. I was engaged the whole time. I had freelanced in graphic design a long time ago and wish I would have had a lot of this advice.I did notice how expensive it can get with all the little subscription cloud apps, that is recommended or talked about. It adds up. BUT, if you land jobs, the cost is not really that much of an issue and you write it off anyway. Also, I was glad to see him mention multiple times that you must have a good portfolio of work as well. Doesn't have to be award winning, but at least good.But Kudos to Joey for a valuable book to those seeking to freelance!

Most of the basics here are what you want to hear or need to hear. A quick read with a few good resources, a bit of pitching towards the SOM business and if you're lucky like I was, a completely crooked cutting off the press. The best info is the emailing approaches given. Also a good motivating refresher if needed.... the principles can be applied to those motion designers who care to expand their services too.

I picked up this book after being fired from my job. I read it cover to cover in one day. It literally walks you through every step of the process, about how to find clients, contact them, and find work as a freelance motion graphics artist. I would assume a lot of the principles would apply to other creative fields as well. Within a week, I booked my first gig at $500 per day - literally because of this book. Thank you Joey Korenman for changing my life.

This book is an absolute wealth of information. I first became familiar with Joey when I signed up to take School of Motion's Character Animation boot camp. I was so impressed with that course, that I've taken every other boot camp that SoM offers, and every time, I'm blown away by how much I learn (even though I've already been animating for 10 years). I have a piano student, who wants to learn how to improvise and accompany at dinner parties-- I had a devil of a time, finding something that would get her to practice more technical stuff-- This book is great, because it helps her apply what she learns when she is here. It is a great book that I use as a sort of technique book, when appropriate.I first have her analyze the exercise-- finding the pattern -- then I show her how she can improvise within the exercise, once she has conquered the exercise. It has gotten her excited about learning the "boring" stuff.

So, I bought this because I will NEVER be even close to playing as Oscar, BUT now I can pretend. I read music well and enjoy these easy to more advance exercises, plus. I'm going to keep it, but not sure I needed to buy it for myself to become a better pianist. Intermediate to entering Advance piano levels will enjoy this book and learn a bit of Oscar's inside music improv.

This is not what I expected. Pieces are not very interesting and my students, excited by the cover and premise of the book, were less than eager to work on it.

Excellent! Wish I bought it long ago. definitely helps with learning fingering techniques, building strength and dexterity. great for anyone especially for beginners.

The exercises start out simply and progresse to more difficult exercises. I would recommend this book to any person trying to become acquainted with the marvelous way that Oscar Peterson played Jazz.

Enjoy bits of the genius of Oscar Peterson. I'll be playing these over and over.

Did not like these exercises at all. Maybe I'm missing the long term effect of using them, but they are boring and much too simple for me.

Very helpful learning tool better than expected these exercises etc are in key of C F G B flat and E flat
